Liza Hastings

Principal
Mrs. Hastings is a Wicomico County Public Schools graduate who received her Bachelor's degree from Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland and her Master's degree from Salisbury University. Prior to becoming Principal in 2011 and Assistant Principal at Bennett Middle School in 2008, she was the Dean of Students and a history teacher at Wicomico High School. She began her career in 1997 as a 6th grade History teacher at Glen Avenue Elementary School. Mrs. Hastings was recognized in 2004 as semi-finalist for Teacher of the Year. She lives in Delmar with her husband Tim, daughter Alyssa and son Caleb.

Michael Campbell

Assistant Principal
Mr.  Campbell is a proud graduate of Wicomico County Public Schools.  He received his Bachelor of Science in Biology and his Master of Education Leadership degrees from Salisbury University.  He is continuing his professional development as a member of the Academy of Leadership in Education at Salisbury University.  Mr. Campbell began his career as a science teacher at Parkside High School and now serves as the Assistant Principal at Mardela Middle & High.  He lives locally with his wife, Alicia, a teacher in Wicomico County, and his daughters, Abigail and Isabella. 

Shawn Gardner

Assistant Principal

Ms. Gardner is in her eighth year as an assistant principal at Mardela Middle and High School. She has also served as an assistant principal at Wicomico High School and as their Dean of Students. Ms. Gardner also held the Dean of Students position in another city high school for three years. A former foreign language teacher, Ms. Gardner has taught in both Dorchester and Wicomico counties and also worked for the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulations as a job search and career development trainer/coordinator. She received a Bachelor of Science from Clarion University of Pennsylvania, a Master of Education degree from Salisbury University, and a Master of International Management from the American (Thunderbird) Graduate School of International Management in Arizona.

Sharon Cooper

Dean Of Students

Mrs. Cooper moved from the western shore of Maryland to Wicomico County when she was 4 years old and has been here ever since! She was valedictorian of her high school graduating class at Mardela Middle and High School (was Mardela High School at the time). Staying close to home, she graduated from Salisbury State College (Salisbury University now) with a Bachelors of Science degree in secondary education in mathematics and psychology, and has taken administration courses at Wilmington College. Having done her student teaching at Parkside High School, she was hired to teach math there and taught there for several years before coming to Mardela. She then taught algebra for MANY years at MMHS before becoming the Dean of Students here. She is married, lives in Delmar, and is an extremely proud and happy mom and grammy.
