Ms Maria Wright

Maria Nichols-Wright grew up in Mardela Springs, MD and graduated from Mardela Middle and High School.  For several years, Maria worked at the Wicomico County Board of Education as a secretary.  After some time, she returned to school graduating as class valedictorian from Sojourner-Douglass College.  Four years later, she earned her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Wilmington University.  Mrs. Wright has over twenty-four years with Wicomico County Public Schools.  She taught second and third grade at Pemberton Elementary School and served as the assistant principal at Charles H. Chipman and Prince Street Elementary Schools.  Prior to coming to Westside Primary School, she served for five years as principal of the Wicomico Early Learning Center and program coordinator for the Wicomico County Judy Center Partnership Program.  Maria enjoys singing, reading, making wreaths and traveling throughout the country with her husband, Homer, on his eighteen-wheeler truck.  She has three children and seven grandchildren.  Mrs. Wright believes all children can learn when provided an outstanding teacher and appropriate resources.  Mrs. Wright is excited to join the Westside Primary School family.
